After seeing a thread earlier, it made me wonder how many of you have told your family that you are an atheist. About all of mine know. It's my father that doesn't know, but he's very conservative and from the Lutheran line; he's not the best with logic, and I have a feeling it'd be like beating a dead horse if I told him.

Does your family know that you are an atheist?
|
My parents knew just from discussions about it while I was growing up.
I was quite lucky they never pushed me into going to church or anything and always let me make up my own mind about most things
All my family know.

My family has known for many, many years. My Mom and Grandma hate it, so they avoid the topic around me (thanks!) and the rest couldn't care less what I do or do not believe.
I imagine that the only person in my family who cares is my gran. She is a YECatholic... but she makes an awesome chicken pie.
My dad has started with Catholicism. He is rather depressed so I think he has turned to religion for some misguided comfort. If I saw him often then I'm sure I would have him de-converted. Cunt
I voted no, but that's because only my mom, my brother, and a really close cousin know. Other than that, literally no one else in my family knows. My dad and my stepmom are very conservative. The rest of my family are highly evangelical. It's better that they don't know.
Don’t ask.
There should be a "some" option.
All they know (the ones I see on a regular basis) is that I detest organized religion. We don't really discuss religion other than how much it's screwed up the world & the occasional good it does when it makes the news. Most of my close family are deists at best if I had to warrant a guess. The rest were pretty hardcore Christians last time I was around them. I doubt that's changed.

My family avoids uttering 'god' or 'miracles' in my presence, else all hell will break loose
Yeah, they know
My mum hates me talking about it but occasionally braves a discussion and quickly regrets it.
Seriously, I really steamroll their beliefs, I don't particularly like to be an ass about it, but sometimes people need a slap of reality.
