Your right, I have no evidence. After all belief in God requires 'faith'. However my point is that the absence of evidence does not disprove God's existence, as many atheists seem to think.

Scientists can assess the possibility of a tiny human with wings collecting teeth existing or not. They can use biology and physics to conclude it's not physically possible for a human mind to exist in a grape sized skull. They can see the zero tooth fairy sightings.
God on the other hand is something which cannot be assessed in reality or theory.
So what makes you think god has any relevance in reality? It is no less ridiculous than tooth fairies.

It doesn't have to disprove anything. You're making the claim that a god exists and I'm telling you that I do not believe that claim. Do you have any evidence to support that claim? No. Can you provide a convincing reason to believe that claim? No.
Why then, should I believe your claim? Because some old book says so? Because you have been told it's true all your life? I'm afraid that is not good enough for me.
Show me that your claim is true, or worthy of considering, and I will. Until then... I do not.

If tooth fairies don't exist (which is likely) they are ridiculous. However if God exists (which is possible) it is very relevant.

As a member of a religious community (in which the majority are religious) it is the Atheists challenging the status quo, they must justify their beliefs to me.
The primary 'reason' you should believe in the possibility that God exists is that there are so many questions unanswered by science. Most people believe in the possibility of Aliens existing on other planets - why not include God, Angels and Demons in this belief?

You can't believe in something without a reason.

I just spoke to Thor JL, told me that your god was a fairy tale. You don't need any "proof" right? Should I reserve you a spot at the next heathen ritual?
You know I actually posted this from a pocket calculator orbiting Jupiter, and I'm a radish.

The primary 'reason' you should believe in the possibility that God exists is that there are so many questions unanswered by science. Most people believe in the possibility of Aliens existing on other planets - why not include God, Angels and Demons in this belief?
The problem with your reasoning here is aliens are actually likely to exist. Life has occurred on Earth, why not on other planets? ( I think algae level life has been found in our solar system, and it is very possible that life exists on Europa ).
If tooth fairies exist, they are relevant also. Your god is no more relevant and no less ridiculous than they are.

So do we need to worship these aliens? Should we build churches and create religions about them? It's a completely different belief.
Centuries ago, many things could not be answered by science. Look at it now, we understand things without needing to say that God is the cause. You can't use God as an explanation to everything that can't be explained by science.

I have yet to encounter or be offered a single compelling or convincing reason to believe that the god you claim exists... actually does. I have nothing to justify. I do not believe your claims of a god existing.

The 'God of the Gaps'? Really? "I don't know" means "God musta dunnit!". Gotcha.

Oh, I don't know. Gods on the whole are quite ridiculous, but that's for another debate.
Quote:The primary 'reason' you should believe in the possibility that God exists is that there are so many questions unanswered by science. Most people believe in the possibility of Aliens existing on other planets - why not include God, Angels and Demons in this belief?
There have been even more unanswered questions through the ages, that have been answered by scientists. But during the course of time, we have yet to come across any sign or evidence of god(s). If it ever happens, I'll make sure to organize an "I'm sorry I was wrong"-parade, but not before that.
If gods can be compared to aliens, why should we worship them?
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
