Obama care
RE: Obama care
Creed, that was actually funny. Anyone with a sense of humor can't be all bad.. I will read your links, maybe i am panicking
Stue, again you are correct of course i don't mean smokers to pay double, I just. . . . you know what i think i said all i can say on this subject.

For every one else I think we are on the same page as far as religion and i am liberal on some social issues but not all and i will never apologize for my thinking. One thing I am glad about is i posted here, I was surprised when so many of you attacked me, but seeing your points is a good thing even though i don't agree completely.

If everyone agreed all the time then this site would be very boring.

You admit to the public that you will never apologize for what you think, however the state of correctness, ethical nature, etc,.

That's a "Fuck you all, I'm going to support what I think no matter what" mindset.

Fair enough.

What boggles me is how you can hold that mode of thought and then be shocked (shocked!) at the vitriol you get back for you Me-First attitude when it comes to healthcare, something that an increasingly industrialized and populated world cannot do without.

It's like you expect the rest of us to accept your garbage but not fling it back. Should you not expect the same that you expect of yourself.

"i will never apologize for my thinking" -- then you deserve no apologies or consideration either.

I don't know if you're still here or not but I'd thought about this and wanted to comment on it. At first, I dismissed it as so much macho bluster from the right wing but I think it really does indicate the mindset of the wacky right (aka "Tea Party") these days.

For all the wacky right's talk of patriotism and love for America, it's really their ideology that commands their loyalty, not any sense of community or loyalty to the Constitution. If their country "turns against them" and legally and Constitutionally elects a liberal government, that's when you hear of talk of revolt or insurrection.

We have a word for this: Treason.

You see, it's one thing to be the "loyal opposition". That's where you protest your current government, you send in letters and petitions to express your grievances, you file lawsuits if the current administration breaks the law or passes unconstitutional laws, you vote in the next election to throw the current leaders out, etc. The loyal opposition makes their opinions known out of love for their country.

But while dissent is patriotic, insurrection in response to legal and fair elections in order to impose your will at gunpoint on the majority is not.

The fine distinction between "loyal opposition" and "treason" is often lost on the wacky right. During the Bush administration, the word "traitor" was bandied about for anyone heard speaking critically of Bush or the war in Iraq. No one spoke of not supporting our troops, never mind insurrection, but patriotism and blind obedience to a right wing president were conflated together.

Now that we have a so-called "liberal" in office (in reality an accommodating centrist but it's all relative, I suppose, to the wacky right) the wacky right continues to miss the distinction. The word "treason" in their shrill cries have been replaced with "tyranny" and a lot of talk of secession and revolution. Evidently, "you lost the election, get over it" only applies to liberals.

Put bluntly, the wacky right doesn't really love America nor are they loyal to the Constitution. They love their ideology. This is evident in the way they can't stand peaceful dissent when "their guy" is in power and behave as if they lived in an occupied country when "our guy" (not really) is in power.

You can save face by claiming you were "just joking" but this is the kind of talk I've become accustomed to from the wacky right and we've seen enough incidents of right wing violence in the last four years to know that while you may not share their frankly undemocratic tendencies, such tendencies are typical of the wacky right.

Come on DP! Grow up. You're going overboard with this immature drama.

Here's what you said,
Quote:Tell you what, A-Theist, I want 8 years to run the same test in America that we ran for conservatives before you can boast about our "failures".....
I want to be president for 8 years.

...and here's how I responded to you,
Quote:Ha Ha! Excellent!...and I'll organize a revolt of the masses when you become president!

It's not likely that I'll ever organize a mass revolution anymore than you becoming president of the United States.
Being a bunch of crybabies and fabricating arguments for no other reason than to have something to cry about is typical of the loony left.

And if this kind of talk weren't typical of the wacky right (punctuated by occasional acts of violence), you would have a good point. I'm simply discussing not just what you said but what comments like yours say about how the wacky right really doesn't love America. It loves and is loyal to its own ideology.

The wacky right needs to look up the term "loyal opposition" and learn what it means.

Bachmann's talk of "2nd amendment solutions" has made such offhand remarks by the right wing a sore point with this liberal too.

All the while the hypocrisy and the double standards from the leftwing excuses their own offhanded remarks of hate and vitriol against conservatives in the name of tolerance.

...and typical of the "c'mon both sides do it" defense, the last resort of the conservative forced to acknowledge the lunacy in his own ranks, prominent examples (Edit: prominent examples of liberal threats of violence, hate and insurrection) are either never produced or over-hyped.

Both sides don't. Sorry. The insanity is all on your side of the playground.
