I think muslims should be given credit for the building of it if they built it, but islam is a religion based totally on the teachings of the quran, this is the one common denominator all muslims have despite the different views on what the quran is actually saying.
The quran as much as im aware doesnt contain instructions on architecture or building, although at one time the arabs i think were considered to be at the forefront of science and technology i think its pretty obvious they didnt come to this knowledge through the quran.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

I don't know anyone who says that the Taj Mahal was built by Hindus. However that being said Islam shouldn't get any credit. What does the religion have to do with the architecture at all? Does the Qu'ran contain one iota of new architectural information that helped build the Taj Mahal? Do we call Buckingham palace a Christian building? It's absurd to credit a religion for something that it doesn't have anything to do with.

In my opinion its as relevant as giving moustaches credit for the vocal talents of freddy mercury, but then you have to remember hitler had a moustache too.

Indeed, I think alot of people forget that muslims ( people who happen to have been born into islam ) have been an important group, and ruled several great imperial powers. This is something that we cannot deny. But I'd say this is ''despite islam'' rather than ''because of islam''.
I dont think the religion is the things that motivates humans into these kind of things. Going to church, or even throwing battery acid in someone's face may be religiously motivated. But I dont think we can give religion credit for things such as buildings or agriculture, or whatever. Islam as a faith have brought human very little. But there have been a big number of muslims who have contributed to the growing wellbeing of this world. That these people have dissapeared due to jihadists and so on is another topic.
