I'm going to write a detailed topic soon about how accurate those sources are.
But first, look at the sources in the article you posted, the earliest source is "al-bukhari", which is also the name of the scholar who wrote the book.
Problem is...al bukhari wrote his book after almost 300 years of the prophet's death. Now how many legends, myths & personal opinions were embedded in these writings ? nobody knows.

Where are the punishments described?
No, the penalties of any kind of assault in Islam are one way ; they never go around to include other parts.

Right, so it's the women's fault that some men can't curb their sexual appetites and they have to cover up? Wouldn't it have been more fair to put a chastity belt on the men who weren't able to keep their hands and penises to themselves?
And no, I don't say that every muslim woman is oppressed, quite a few girls at my high school chose to wear scarves, even though their families were moderate, in order to preserve the culture. I just find the beginnings for this practice unfair and oppressive.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

The penalty for blasphemy is 80 lashes -goes for the person responssible ; the one who accused).
The penalty for rape is..well, death.

I have to agree with Dee, pretty harsh punishments. But because of this I have a follow up question: If women are to cover themselves in order to not be alluring and victims of rape, why are still muslin women, who are modestly clad still raped? If the scarf really doesn't do anything about the problem, why are they still required to wear it?

Why are you required to wear clothing in public? Every society has the same fallacies, some just carry them further than others.

Just to give men a good idea about how accusing women of being whores or bitches behind their backs is terrible.
It also marks a point of advantage to Islam, which is almost the first religion to state such penalties against women abusers.

Are we talking UK or US pants? Because sometimes I don't even wear UK pants with a skirt

I realized that pants didn't make the point I wanted it to, so I edited my post.

The thing is though, can you compare an execution with rape? Now obviously I really loathe rapists and would like to see them suffer equally to what they did to their victims, but murder is finite, rape you can live through. Horrid though the crime of rape is, I don't think it's worth a life.
