Is it discrimination to ask for one's religion?

I think it is more about work ethics than anything else and yes =BS didn't do himself a favour by only imparting part of the story.

Right, but then he/she went on to discriminate in his/her hiring practices by asking about religion and discarding anyone that was a believer. Not all religious people are going to use company time for religious rituals, so to weed out all religious people, rather than asking if their beliefs will interfere with their ability to perform the job, is bigotry, not protecting the company as he/she is trying to make it appear.

Au contraire mon ami!

Humans DO discriminate, it's one of our most enduring virtues. TRYING to get institutions like religious organisations, charities and the like to NOT discriminate is very hard.

I agree, it SHOULDN'T happen, but the reality is that it does and is just as rife today as it ever was. We really haven't come very far. Try being 55+ and seeking employment, discrimination is the proverbial brick wall you hit time and time again. :S

Yeah I just got another job rejection....I think that is now 250. I give up and will stay retired.

Yes of course, I was just being silly.
Discriminating shouldn't be incriminating.

Discernment, that's a good word.
Ye, it's yer delicate discrimination.

Discrimination is bad. I know that some people have the desire to do it, but the line between discrimination and violence becomes blurred a lot faster than people think.

What does this have to do with God=BS' hiring tactics? How is this comparable to the obvious discrimination used by God=BS when hiring?

If God=BS was racist and decided not to hire a developer because they were black, should we let it slide too? Humans discriminate! It's natural. I wish it wouldn't happen, but hey, watcha gonna do, right?

It's the same principle. Not hiring someone because they are religious or not hiring someone because they would prefer not to disclose their religion is immature and discriminatory. He uses the example of the Muslim that he hired that was bordering extremeism as an excuse not to hire any religious people. That's a pretty shitty excuse. Because this one nutjob did all of this, you're blocking the door from anyone who follows a religion, including a mild-mannered Christian?

Hell, the people who REFUSED to give their religion should be the ones getting the job! If God=BS is all up in arms about religious nutjobs telling everyone how theirs is true and praying during business meetings, then you want the guy who would never talk about his religion! That's exactly the type of person you'd want to hire! Not hiring anybody except atheists is ridiculous.

This post probably depicts me as very angry about this, but I swear I'm not. lol.

suing is easy. Anyone can sue anyone else. Winning and proving intent, that;s another story.

But when you ask someone's religion in a job interview, it makes their job of proving intent much easier. Hiring and firing based upon religious preference is illegal. Unless you're a religious organization, that is.

If you asked me that in a job interview, I'd have also told you that it was none of your business, and probably would have inquired if my answer was contingent upon getting the job or not. Either way, I'd probably not have bothered to sue you, but I'd put a bug in the ear of whatever local EEOC offices are available about your question about religion.

No, we just take umbrage with your blatantly illegal hiring and firing practices. You seem to want us all to say, "Yeah, good going! Way to go!" but it's not gonna happen. I guess I'm too much of a humanist because I treat people the way I want to be treated, and I don't want to be discriminated against because of my religion. So I can't sympathize with you in any way, shape, or form. You've admitted to illegally discriminating against potential employees and we're calling you out on it.
