One can't be "refreshed" unless one was tired to begin with.

indeed. Glad that's settled. Why do I feel like there's still a question being begged here?

I say it's better to beg the question on earth than beg for mercy at the Pearly Gates. Our loving Lord isn't known for giving any mulligans.
In any event, my point is the Wholly Babble makes it clear that although our loving Lord has "the strength of a unicorn".
The Wholly Babble Wrote:Num 24:8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn:
Personally, I'd have gone for 5 unicorns, 3 centaurs and a chimera, but hey, the good Lord's stenographers didn't ask me. Regardless, the Babble makes it clear that the Lord, strong though he may be, isn't omnipotent.

Whew, thank you for clarifying. DP will be happy to hear it.

It seems to me that the only possible effect would be to slow the speed at which the light is travelling, so that ages are longer and not shorter. In other words, if Andromeda appears to be 2 million light years away but gravity is affecting the accuracy of the measurement, then the light from Andromeda may have been traveling for 2.5 million years?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

The only thing I can add to his post is that you mean "affected by gravity".
You used "effect of gravity" correctly. An effect is the outcome or influence. Affect refers to what is influenced. Light is affected by the effects of a black hole.
The speed of light has never been determined in a true vacuum, we can't be sure how much light slows down due to gravity, nor can we be sure how fast light travels when gravity has little affect on it. When the speed of light was determined it was under the effect of gravity. Thus I'm saying light as a measurement of distance due to it's speed can not be considered the most reliable devise, and seeing that light is affected by gravity the color shift may not be so reliable either.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

If you don't think it's a reliable method, then what is? Asking God?

Stupid nonsense...
Your parodies lack originality lately, care to try to prove that I'm not a Christian again?

Duh! Jesus Christ! But you have to listen!
Hey, GC...I don't think your religion is spelled correctly on your profile. At least, that's certainly not the traditional spelling I'm used to seeing. I'm definitely not counting out the possibility of it being a new religion I have not yet heard of. There are lots of those too, I'm sure.
