Not to mention her reason for changing the first name - because JESUS. That bitch's religion should not influence her judgement in court.

Quote:"The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ," the judge said.

Actually, the jews.... who are supposed to have invented the concept of a fucking messiah.....disagree.

This Hay-Soos guy did nothing that a messiah is supposed to do.

If the judge has the authority to rule on a sir name based on what she believes to be right what law says she can not rule on a given name?

Since when does a judge have the right to rule on what he/she feels is right? They can only rule in accordance with how they interpret the law. I'd like to see what laws or precedence she cites that "messiah" is a title reserved only for Jesus.

Besides, this was about the last name.

But why do I have the feeling that if the judge had changed the name to "Obama" you'd be crying "judicial activism?"

The boy's mother, Jaleesa Martin..."

Judges have the authority to rule on matters before the court. The matter of the child's first name was not something that the court was petitioned to rule on.

In addition, judges are tasked with ruling on matters in accordance with statutory and case law, not according to their personal opinions, and certainly not according to their religious convictions.

Not that I care, but the judge said she based her decision on the welfare of the child who would be living in a predominantly Christian area. As I hear on here how whacko you guys are over there this sounds like a good idea for the kid.
