Read the Bible.

I believe just the opposite. Those fine Christians that actively feed the poor and do all sorts of good deeds are doing it simply because they're good people. If it were suddenly and finally proven there's no god, these good people would keep on doing their good deeds.
There is an ALLLL-knowing, ALLLL-powerful, inVISible being who is everywhere, who created the WHOLE universe, who lives in another dimension called heaven, who is perfect in every way, who was never born and will never die, and who watches you every minute of every day (even when you're squeezing one out on the toilet). There are also unicorns, leprechauns, Santa Claus, an Easter Bunny, and a giant purple people eater.
JUST BELIEVE IT!

You ever been to one of those events where Xtians feed the poor? In some cases (not all, obviously), the hungry are forced to listen to a 30-60 minute sermon before they can get the goods. You won't see any of that bullshit happen when secular humanists are behind the soup ladles.

I'm inclined to agree with Sparty, has anyone been to a Xtian event and were not proselytized to? And not just like an accident that happens while talking to them, but they have a system set up with a few people in charged of trying to convert people.

I do the right thing because I don't fear hell.
How can christians be "moral" if their only reason to do something is out of fear? When did fear justify good behavior? When did fear justify righteousness?
Discuss.
May I submit that there is no 'right thing.'
What you do is based on your fear soceity's wrath if you do not adopt its morality as your own.

And yet often doing the "right" thing incurs the wrath of those around us. I'll give you an example: I just got a text from a friend requesting that I help them cheat on a school test. I often get these requests regarding assignments and tests, of course, worded less bluntly. I always turn them down. Trust me, they aren't happy. I'm doing what I believe is the right thing, you may disagree, but I'm not doing it because of others' opinions, I'm doing it in spite of their opinions.

Christians don't do good out of fear of hell. They do what some book says their god wants out of fear of hell. How much blood has spilled over the millennia because they think there's no distinction to be made there?

Mhmm. All those gay rights protests I've been to, those are definitely in keeping with this idea that we do things to avoid upsetting the status quo. Yep. Nobody has ever tried to change society because it's the right thing to do.
Ever.
