Not entirely sure if all of those are butterfly children, but you get the idea.

Surely a god that loves everyone (which has been claimed by certain christians on this forum) would not let this happen

Unless they somehow deserve it? What could those children have done to deserve such suffering I wonder.....
But this is a genetic disease, they can't have done anything to deserve this.... right?

Answers please, i'm fed up with people dancing and dodging around this question

The anwser is that you appear to want a skydaddy babysitter... Undecided
Life is not fair, just deal with it.

but, kitten... if the god were real, why can't he babysit? what trouble is it to him? why wouldn't life be fair?

As humans, we have tried hard to make a judicial system that is fair to all. Have we succeeded? I would say yes, although there is a long way to go. War criminals stand trial for crimes against humanity nowadays. That sort of justice didn't exist even 100 years ago.

What is my point? Our laws are getting better, and evolving to adapt to better ideals and logic. God's laws? They are old and stagnant, and worst of all, it is obvious that God is above any law, even the ones he made. No, life isn't fair, but at least mankind is doing something about that flaw. If there is a God, he obviously cares little for righteousness and the betterment of mankind.

Life is not fair, and secular ideas deal with it. Religion does not.

There will be some kind of limit to what they're capable of being able to do based on their limitations as physical humans.

The question is why God created a universe with the aim to create organic beings and I think will have something to do with freewill. In this arena you can be Florence Nightingale or an SS officer.

No. The question is why does he allow butterfly children to be borne? We don't need answers to the wrong questions now do we.

One wonders if you would be this sanguine were it your child or are you naturally as callous as your god?

Thanks for your contribution fish, it was a little less trolly than normal. However, no I do not want a skydaddy at all. I want to know the reasons theists give when trying to justify why there is so much suffering in the world. And I do realise that life is not fair and believe me, I deal with it in a much healthier way than any theist.

This is where I think you're wrong.
You see pain and suffering as bad and I see any life as a positive thing...

Oh right, so you would prefer a life where your skin is constantly falling off, blistering and infected, in constant pain. You would prefer that to non life?
Or how about growing up in africa, riddled with aids and starving? Only to die within your first few years.
No, you see your life as a positive thing because you have never experienced a life as bad as the above examples.

Are you seriously advocating suicide, because that's what I get from your post.
Yes, I would rather live in pain than not live at all. Why is that hard to understand?

No, I was not suggesting suicide. In most cases life is preferable to non life. In MOST cases. But if I had a choice between being born in africa, with aids, malaria and starving and dying when I was 5; and not living at all. I would choose not living at all.
I don't think you can understand the statement you just made, its quite general. Sure anyone can live with pain. But thats not all i'm talking about. Tell me, what would be your choice on the example above? Would you still rather live in that situation?

Are you going to keep asking the same question again and again? You do realise this is all just an appeal to emotion anyways, right?

Are you going to answer it?

Not really no. I'm weighing the benefits and negatives of living in unbearable pain and suffering and dying when you are a toddler with non life. No pain or suffering. No emotion is necessary to evaluate two situations.
