Sorry, science is not a belief, it is a tool. Your myth was written by people who were scientifically ignorant. Religion does not belong in science class nor should it ever replace science. That is called living in reality.

You are sticking your nose into other peoples CULTURE.
Guess what sort of reaction you are going to get.

Yes and look what you "culture" has done. Dark ages, witch hunts, genocide of Native Americans, slavery, denial of women's rights to vote. Homophobia. Sorry I'll fucking stick my nose in anyone's culture if they oppress other people.

It's only the atheists who aren't joining in the fun now.

By "the fun", are you refering to the countless religious wars throughout history, including three major ones just this last century? Or the constant tension and discrimination between religions in certain countries and between countries?
Don't forget the persecution of others!
That's a prerequisite!!

It ought to be but it has come under the influence of a belief system that has certain dogmas which aren't based on anything we necessarily know or have evidence for.

Funny SoC. Pray tell, which belief system are you going to say science has "come under the influence" of?

I have a bet with myself about it.

This kind of thing though the video I posted before covers the central dogmas.

Wanna bet?

Gravity is a "dogma", so if you deny gravity, and just have faith you won't die if you jump off a skyscraper, you wont splat like an exploding pumpkin?

You are using the product of science right now to type this bullshit.

Science is a tool, and does not rely on myth and superstitious cultural magic men pulled out of your ass, not yours, not any.

You moron, I am not Bush. But I will work within my free speech rights to call bullshit bullshit. And will speak out about the rights of women being assaulted by our right wing nuts. I will speak out about the treatment of girls and women in LDS and Islam. I wills speak out against all forms of religious condoned child abuse in the form of virginity tests and circumcisions in ALL religions. I will speak out against homophobia. And all the bullshit religion uses to justify physical harm and or oppression of others.

Now, do you care to try to silence me by law? If not, blow it out your ass.

You keep saying this, but you've yet to respond to the contention I had with it the first time you made this claim: namely, that the demonstrable benefits of science- the discoveries, the technology, the cures and so forth- are predicated on the information that forms their basis being true, and conforming to reality. Those discoveries are also the way scientists make their name, make themselves rich, and seal themselves into the annals of history.

Simply put, there is no reason that any scientist would deny the reality of their experiments and results in favor of a dogma: why in the hell would a professional scientist avoid the kind of discoveries that would turn them into Nobel prize winning millionaires whose names are known around the world? What would be the purpose of forgoing those? Can you give me a single motivating factor for why the scientific community would form dogmas in the first place, let alone scuttle their careers by holding onto them, if the evidence you see is so blindingly obvious and pertaining to such a large question?

Just pointing and yelling "Conspiracy!" when people disagree with you... that's not an argument, Sword. That puts you in the tin foil hat category.

Lion, lets get something perfectly clear. You have been on an atheist website for how long? If we were all genocidal manics we would not stop at having a website. I have no desire to get into a war over theism, or even a physical fight with you. You being offended does not make me wrong.

Everyone here, both you and me, get to bitch at each other and go to bed at night. My fight is not to end religion, but over treatment of other humans in the name of religion. I still live in a reality where I work with and love people who believe, but that does not mean their claims deserve taboo status merely because they don't like the message or the word choice.

Atheists get called immoral all the time, the word, even without cussing is treated as evil. We get offended by the claims of theists all the time. However unlike you, many atheists care more about the evidence behind why you claim what you do than the fact you say offensive stuff. What is offensive is not simply saying it, what offends atheists more than anything else is the lack of evidence behind such statements.

What should offend you isn't our ad homins, what should offend you is your own lack of evidence.
