A phenomenon is NOT evidence.

Quote:So if you accepted the authorship and their genuine testimony, you would have to deal with what they were claiming.

Correct.

Quote:For example, if the Apostles said they saw Jesus alive from the dead in various group settings then how would you account for this naturalistically if it was not true?

Several possibilities come to mind. Delusion, collusion, Jesus didn't actually die, and so on.

Quote:If you don't know any phenomenon that would convince you then what makes you think anything could convince you?

That's my point - I don't think anything would convince me, but I'm open to the possibility. If I KNEW of a phenomenon which would convince me, I wouldn't be an atheist.

A delusion can't account for their eyewitness testimony, because group hallucinations are medically impossible.

If they lied and colluded that doesn't fit the profile that people don't willingly die for what they know is a lie.

If Jesus didn't actually die he wouldn't have convinced anyone he was a risen Messiah, unable to walk, scourged down to the bone, all blooded, tattered, torn, a hole in his chest, feet and hands.

Moreover, Jesus would be a liar since he didn't really resurrect Himself.

If you don't think anything would convince you then nothing would convince you. And if nothing can convince you, as you have decided, then if the evidence does exist, you will reject it anyway.

Once again, the Bible is not proof of the Bible. I can write down that a thousand witnesses saw me grow a tail out of my forehead ... doesn't mean that there were any witnesses or that it ever actually happened.

Quote:If they lied and colluded that doesn't fit the profile that people don't willingly die for what they know is a lie.

Again, there's no evidence that there was even one witness. And by the way, people have been dying for ridiculous lies for thousands of years.

Quote:If Jesus didn't actually die he wouldn't have convinced anyone he was a risen Messiah, unable to walk, scourged down to the bone, all blooded, tattered, torn, a hole in his chest, feet and hands. Moreover, it would make Jesus a liar to the Apostles.

Again, no evidence this ever happened. The Bible is not proof of the Bible ... [Image: CyclicalBible.png]

Why are texts proof of texts in antiquity for other things but not for the Bible?
