Well the point is in Christianity that your life is improved. God is sad if you don't achieve that. But then you're not talking about Christianity but excluding the new testament to come to that conclusion.

If people can cause sadness in god, can they not cause anger as well? How does anyone know for certain what god's emotional repertoire is? Just curious.

I know I shouldn't be discussing this in this person's intro thread, but, fr0d0, you brought it up and I felt I needed to be addressed.

Heh. I can see your point.

I don't think my left toe has morals by itself. But it certainly has more lint than anyone's imaginary friend.

Yes sorry for the tangent. If God is ultimate goodness (as Christians believe) then anything we do good or bad is measured by that. Strangely anyone aiming to be moral would have the same goals.

RE: New to the truth
(We should start a new discussion thread about the emotional range of the Christian god. I would, but I'm about to head out the door here.)

Yeah but our goals aren't directed by a 1,700 year old collection of even older texts. Instead, we try to use common sense, reasoning, and empathy. Why else do you think Christians no longer hold a moral high ground in issues such as "the definition of marriage"?
