They always mention how we don't want to face reality and stuff. Or that we believe because it makes us happier as opposed to really thinking it's true and believing due to that.

What's a rational reason to believe that doesn't involve emotion?

Look man, believe whatever you want, but putting that argument in the mouths of atheists isn't remotely fair.
Furthermore, this idea that belief in God offers me happiness is absurd. I have deistic beliefs and I don't maintain them because I glean some sort of happiness from them. To be clear, I don't get one tiny ounce of happiness from my own belief structures. In fact, I'd say that I'd be a lot god damn happier if I never ever thought about this horse shit again. If I could shut the existential crap off in my mind - believe me, I would.

I feel for you, but the truth is just the truth whether it makes you feel good or not. If you have plenty you might feel great being an atheist, but if you have nothing and are being kicked all the time around you probably want something else to exist for.

There are plenty of believers pretending to believe, all with a varying scale of beliefs. There are closeted atheists in the clergy for example that become atheist later in life and can't/won't leave their profession for a myriad of reasons.

And besides, the belief in a god is engaging in pretend. So I guess you're right, you are all pretending, even if it is just self-delusion.

Hm, well. Have you ever seen any irrefutable evidence that God exists?
Things like 'I see it every time the sun rises, or in the beauty of a flower' wouldn't count to an atheist, because he/she does probably not believe that some higher power is behind the existence of the sun, or the beauty of flowers.
It would have to be a miracle. I seem to remember there are several miracles in the Koran. Like the prophet riding to heaven on a flying horse, and so on. Something that would be impossible if a higher power did not will it. You would also have to document this in a way that is incontrovertible. (Not sure how one would do that, however...)
If I said something like that, this would probably be the thinking behind it.

I am absolutely guilty as charged in a great many cases. Every time I hear some christer claim that life would be empty and meaningless without gawd. Every time I hear some christer tell me how I feel as an atheist (usually miserable and empty according to those twats). Every Time I hear what a joy service to the lawd is. Every time I hear some smarmy, bigoted asshole televangelist say "Fake it until you make it!!!!!" on television. For all of these reasons and many others I believe most christers are pretending, or deluding themselves, that gawd is real. So fucking sue me.

You want to convince me otherwise? Show me some testable, verifiable evidence to back up your belief and I'll consider your position.
