Pretty much this ^
Pro-choice has nothing to do with whether you agree, disagree, or could give a flying fig about abortion. It only has to do with whether or not you think women should be able to choose for themselves, or if the government should make abortion illegal.

Murder is the unlawful taking of a human life. So, no. Move on.

Chas, if you're not willing to redefine words ad hoc, how are we supposed to shift the goal posts?

DP seems to think that women shouldn't be allowed to choose abortion after 21 weeks. What does that make him?

And get a dictionary. Read the thread, moron. DP makes thought the dividing line, and said that animals have thoughts on par with a human infant. My question is perfectly reasonable in that context.

No, it isn't, dipshit. Murder has a definition - use it.

DP, do you consider yourself pro-life? That seems to be your position. You just don't think life begins until 21 weeks or so.

Why are you against using the commonly accepted definitions of pro-life and pro-choice?

Here's an essay by a pro-choice person noting the same problem with the pro-choice label that I'm noting:

Quote:I am not pro-choice by most people's understanding of the term. I necessarily let women decide for themselves as that's been the law of the land for decades.
Ah, so you're pro-life but you won't be bombing any abortion clinics or otherwise taking matters into your own hands. That's good to know but insofar as our discussion on abortion is concerned, this is a distinction without a difference.
So having established that you are pro-life, you recognize that your beliefs about when life begins are completely arbitrary (see your repeated posts about how this is just your opinion) but if you could, your arbitrary whims would be forced on women to make choices for them.
Got it. Why so evasive?

Pro-choice. I don't know of anyone in the pro-choice movement who thinks women should have 3rd trimester abortions on demand. Most women who want abortions (91% of them at last count) get them done in the first trimester.
By the time 21 weeks have passed, the woman has generally decided to have a baby. The only abortions that occur after this point are ones by medical necessity.
I also don't think children should be killed by their parent's whims after they are born though your Bible feels differently.
