OP, that is cause the anti homosexual (older generation) crowd is dying off. The younger gen is the homosexual loving, legalize dope crowd. Pretty soon the Pope may go for the homosexuals as well! If the church keep downsizing with members leaving he may not have much choice if he wants to keep the $ flowing. Who know, maybe we will even get a lesbian Pope someday.
Now, if an asteroid comes to hit the earth and kill us off, the religious fanatics will say god sent it cause of our homosexual ways.

He might start wearing a robe, too.

Oh...if anyone scoffs at the future lesbian Pope?
Who would have thought the Christians could have taken the bibles orders to kill homosexuals and turn it around to make homosexuals bishops in the Episcopal church.
Never forget, with man-made religion they make up the rules as they go.

I live in a very rural town, pop 5.6k. Homophobia is alive and well here. The older generation is "dieing off" as you said but that doesn't stop them from imparting their beliefs to their children who impart it to theirs. I think the internet is probably the best tool in places like this. Young gay and lesbians don't have to feel isolated with a vast and vibrant community a click away. But that's only a balm for the daily tortures they have to endure in their schools and neighborhoods if they are "out".
I think it's kind of like race in america. While the court cases have come down on the side of equality and culturally the majority has claimed it's acceptance there is still a vast and pervasive web of intolerance that exists below the surface.

Rural areas in America are like the middle east except they are green and safe. (I got this from a place that never saw light)

Nah, it is the liberalization of allowing remarriage following divorce that brought the asteroid.

I do not mean to be rude, but I sometimes miss other's levity. When you said "I got this from a place that never saw light" is that a euphemism for "out of my ass"? Like when people say "where the sun don't shine"?
Just trying to make sure I didn't miss the joke. If there was none then I apologize.

That's really tough. Living in secular Europe where gay marriage is common and people's human rights are respected, it's shameful that the US dosn't adopt the same standards.
