I have no quarrels with that. I was talking about specifically condemning the universal theistic stance of believing in God. I think if Atheists were to be consistent in that, and logical, they would see it makes no sense to do that. It's better to admit there maybe merit to faith in God, but that you are skeptical as opposed to out right reject it. As I've said; believe all you want - whatever gets you excited. Just don't put your beliefs in my home or on my land and we'll do fine living side by side.
The main problem is, in general, theists hold beliefs that in some way require the infliction of those beliefs upon others.
If someone wants to follow a dissonant tone into madness, that's their choice, just don't get upset if others call your beliefs into question.

Holy stinking dogcrap no!
Just this past week a grandfather killed his daughter and six kids because he believed in a heaven where they would all be better off.
This past month ISIS posted videos of the brutal execution of non-muslims because they thought it was what "god" wanted them to do and that they would be rewarded for it.
Coming out as Gay today in many places of the US and Russia will get you attacked and bullied. In parts of Africa it will get you killed because of religion.
Religion is not just a harmless fairytale that people take to heart, it is a dangerous delusion.
Just because people say something doesn't mean it is true, the grandfather more than likely had ulterior to his motives just like ISIS. Religion is only their scapegoat.
Can't speak for the homosexuality part though, as I have no knowledge of it.

Right after that I said:
Tell me a good deed that a theist can do and a atheist can't because of his lack of faith.

God hasn't revealed himself to them so they won't assume he has to others.
This is a fair point of view.
But what makes no sense is to assume others don't have any good reason to believe in God or there is no merit to faith.
This is taking a step further. You would have to either prove there is no God or that if there is a God, he has not made himself known to anyone.
Therefore it is more reasonable that Atheists take a more humble approach to their Atheism, that they simply state this is the position they take, but they don't necessarily condemn the Theistic position.
Nah, it's more fun being an asshole.

That sir is a generalization, mosts theists don't claim to know the will of their god other than what was written in ancient tomes
Since most Christians claim to have a personal relationship with their god it is quite an accurate generalisation.

Due to influential speakers, many are deluded into denying the potential merit something has simply because they don't like that something. This is called a bandwagon, and even atheists are not immune to the bandwagon phenomenon. When such people, atheistic or not, congregate in large numbers they have a sense of might makes right as their numbers give them a feeling of empowerment.
This is why you will never be able to have these people view their opinions without their own bias or bigotry getting in the way. In essence what I am saying is your effort is futile.

Please, Celestine, hop in and correct our groupthink the next time we blast some nutball for his passive aggressive death threats huddled up in the warm and fuzzy costume of armageddon. The discussion clearly needs your input, but nope...nowhere to be found in -those- threads, huh........
