Religion is a result of our species lack of understanding our own natural behavior. Flawed perceptions can lead to group think and produce safety in numbers and ability to gain resources.

Much like the Ancient Egyptians were successful for 3,000 years believing in their fictional polytheistic gods. Islam is simply a different flavor of false perception.

Unfortunately that is how all religions start. The only difference between a cult and a religion is funding and political power.

I am telling you, we are right in blasting Islam, but for the same reason Christianity needed to be raked over the coals to put a leash on it.

The more humans understand that religion and politics are really nothing more than excuses to gain power and get resources, we will have more world peace. Our common condition should be our focus, the rest needs to be put on the back burner even if it does not go away.

UGGGGGG NO SHIT, the ones who claimed to be compassionate were reading the same fucking book as those who used it to be dicks. It was NOT Christianity that made the west more civil, it was our evolutionary sense of empathy. Yes people who claimed to be Christians claimed it was Christianity that lead to our modern civility. IT WAS NOT!

Anymore than a rabbit's feet or lucky bat gets you a home run. Humans simply got tired of the barbarity and their empathy kicked in, falsely attributing it to the religion of the time does not change that evolution has always produced both cruelty and compassion.
