Since Heaven and Hell are not temporal ..

RE: Since Heaven and Hell are not temporal ..
Because they're not the correct religion, obviously.

And revealed is the sham reasoning behind why one religion is 'correct' and the others are false.

Sorry, I'll let them answer. I predict there will be embellishments about how Jesus has been revealed to them (what the Muslims say about Allah) and how the bible accurately predicts events (what the Muslims say about the Quran), but I'm fairly confident it will be the 'argument' outlined above when it's reduced down.

Haha yeah. They will either not answer, or try to somehow insist that reason and evidence are suddenly important when deciding what religion to pick, after accepting that any religion is based on no evidence or reason at all.

I don't know how their minds don't crack open.

"Revealed"
"Personal experience"
"Making shit up"

If you can't explain why your personal experience convinced you in any meaningful way beyond just a feeling, misinterpreting significance of events, or hallucinating, then you can't possibly expect anyone else to take it seriously.

It's funny how people always have "personal experiences" and stuff "revealed" to them that happens to latch on to the most convenient local religion. No one ever gets "revealed" into their own religion of one person.

Wow I am super bitchy this morning! Again, I'm not attacking theists. I'm attacking the useless arguments they make. It makes me feel good to vent my frustration at the lunacy of it all.

That statement just demonstrates how willfully ignorant you are. Metaphysics is a higher order of inquiry than natural science, dumbshit. It's like trying to prove physics from the study of biology.

All the Abrahamic monotheistic religions adhere to the same God of classical natural theology. No conflict there at the level of general revelation proven by reason applied to common experience. The differences lie in special revelation which are subject to interpretation and cause for legitimate debate.

So I guess you missed the part where Fidel said "testable or verifiable", huh? And no, he's not talking about the Aristotelian 'god' you trot out and pretend is pretty much the same 'god' you worship in the Bible. He's talking about Yahweh -- you know, that Canaanite character in your big book of tales who has been known to have lunch, set drenched offerings on fire, interact with actual people, fret over shellfish and foreskins, etc. In other words, the sort of god who -- if real -- might be expected to leave something like testable or verifiable evidence in the world he supposedly interacts with.

Yeah, that one, dumbshit.

Hmmm. If you can't verify or test something, you just make it up? Is that how metaphysics works?

Sounds easy, I could get a degree in that.

Wilfully ignorant? It's your invisible fairy friend, numbnuts. I'm the one asking for evidence of it (as above), and you're the one continually failing to produce it to the (very low) standard I and others are requesting.

You're calling me dumbshit you can't even read, you twat. So thanks for making yourself look like more of a fool than I ever could.

When you're as thick as two planks like Chad here, you might even struggle with that.

The call for "testable and verifiable" evidence places your request squarely within the scope of natural science. The god of classical theism is easily deduced from reason applied to common experience. Science takes as given the things about which philosophy inquires, specifically causality and the recognition of universals. My insult stands. You are still a dumbshit for having defended your stupidity.

Wait, I got my metaphysical degree, but I can't see it? Or touch it? They said I just have to have faith that it is there. 500 quid that cost me!

I haven't been here long, but every time I read a post from Chad, the following pops into my head:

Now, I know this is a place for discussion, which precludes the use of memes, but damn if it doesn't fit just about every time.
