The chugging gasoline part seems unnecessary...
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Can't say I've read any Henry Miller. Will add to the list for new books. I will say we're no stranger to banned books. The wife has a few Vladimir Nabokov.

Banned in what sense?
Some books have been banned in parts of the world. Some have been banned in entire countries, specific areas, cities, schools, libraries, etc.. For example, Grapes of Wrath was banned in a certain part of California.

We have several of them in our collection, some of which I have had since I was a kid. Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Fahrenheit 451 (hilarious irony...), The Handmaid's Tale, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Grapes of Wrath, Frankenstein, The Davinci Code, To Kill a Mockingbird, Neverwhere, Girl Interrupted, Age of Reason, Lord of the Flies, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Color Purple, His Dark Materials trilogy, etc...
And the number of books actually banned is just a fraction of the books that are challenged every year. Books like the Harry Potter series, Bone (graphic novel), Hunger Games, and countless others.

For everybody who missed it (I think it's in my intro thread, I don't honestly remember) here is my Library:

Off subject but your books are so nice and neat. Some of mine lay on the shelves sidewise or have swollen spines where I dropped them in the tub.

Nice collection! We have 276 books in our collection but we don't have enough bookcases. Half are on shelves and half are stacked neatly on the floor beside the cases. Between all the books and my massive collection of geek items (especially Funko Pop figures), our spare room is pretty much full.

Ah, I see. Didn't think about that old scandal since it's so tame by todays standards.
