I get that the answer is no.  But what is wrong with me trying to argue that the answer should be yes?  What is wrong with having this discussion?  Is persuasive discussion not allowed in this thread?

The answer is no.  While you may want it to be yes, it isn't, and it won't be.  I can speak for anyone else, but your persistence only reinforces the no answer for me.

Not everyone is a mod and you could always resign your position.  Suppose this forum became your life and you realized that a healthy mind requires variety.  Wouldn't it beneficial to have the option of requesting to be cutoff?.....At least temporarily?

No; that's stupid.  If someone wants to leave, they can leave.  The door isn't that hard to find, and we're not keeping anyone hostage.

There is no down side(that I can see) to having a "Ban Me" thread where people request temporary self bans.

I asked specifically what is the downside of having such a thread.  I never got a response.....so not all my questions have been answered.
