They didn't extract that from the shutdown.  CHIP was gonna get reauthorized one way or another.  They didn't extract anything from the shutdown, it wasn't their shutdown..they couldn't have started it or stopped it.  

The government shut down because the r's couldn't corral their own damned loonies.  The dems caved..not to get chip funding..but because..in this america, you can be caught holding the knife in someones back, point at the other guy...and they'll believe you.

I legitimately wish life worked like that for me.......everything would be so much easier.

Oh yeah. I forgot about those Republicans who aren't running for reelection. I hope we can good candidates who will campaign on a good economic and jobs message rather than a drain the swamp platform. That can be just as defeating as all that resist Trump  shit if that's all they have.

Especially given how Trump has ignored draining the swamp, preferring instead to stock it with more 'gators.

I think the problem for the Republicans is that Trump is dragging them further right, meaning that their base will be narrowing.

I dunno buddy. Should be interesting this Fall. Just watched Joe Manchin on the news going after Schumer about putting the Wall back on the table. Of course Joe Manchin's one of the Red State Dems who's up for reelection in the mid terms.

It is up in the air. My sense is that with Trump doubling down on his rhetoric, he'd best hope that economic numbers keep floating. But with his scuppering NAFTA, the CoGS is going to rise, because everything from tomatoes to syrup to car parts will no longer be matters of free trade, and consumers will feel that in many different outlays.

He'd better work for higher incomes amongst working-class Americans ... no doubt he'll get on that right away.

The Rs may hold onto the Senate, but my sense is that the House might well swing -- and given their role in the funding process, if that swing happens the Ds can torpedo him. "Yeah, we'll fund the wall" -- and that bill could well be stuck in committee.

That's saying nothing about the outcome of Mueller's investigation. Trump has wedged himself there, too -- because after saying he'd be happy to an interview with the investigator, backing down will look guilty even if he isn't.

If I were Republican, I'd be worried.
