It's pretty obvious if you ask me. We're looking at various metaphors. A circle already is the perfect shape, so a stringent circle is an absurd or redundand demand for more perfection as it is often made in today's society. A mild mile is a metaphor for the path ahead of us - our lives - and how it could have been a pleasant journey, were it not for these nonsensical demands to function more perfectly.
