It seems to go with the mindset of "How do I know what to do if someone isn't telling me?"
Right. And I think that drives their refusal to accept that we can be moral without being told what morality is by a High Authority.
They are, of course, just as capable as we are to do so, and they actually do it. That's why they're not out stoning nonbelievers and gays and disobedient children, as commanded by the Wholly Babble. But they still like to think they have been handed an objective set of Rules From On High, to which they are "properly" in orderly obedience/subjugation.
It just breaks my heart for them, but I expect no differently, since I observe that these types of primate behaviors are unlikely to Naturally Select their way out of the gene pool or the cultural memes anytime soon.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
