I'm saying there are other factors was in response to this person saying that if there was no racial bias the victims of police brutality should align with population sizes.
I then said I think there are other factors like rates of resisting arrest and overall crime rates and contact with the police that probably also contribute. You wouldn't expect asian and black rates of police brutality to totally align with their population sizes when one groups crime rate towers above the other therefore making one group have way more interaction with the police. Again I'm not saying the police should dish out more brutality, but just from the law of averages it's bound to make a contribution to the likelyhood of an act of brutality from the police the more contact someone has with them.
From what I can see Asians make up 5% of the population but they are 2% of all the police killings.
Which is the exact opposite of the statistics for black people. If the differences are just because of racial bias this means the police inherently love Asians, like white people, act fairly to hispanics, and dislike black people. That's if you ignore factors like crime rate and resisting arrest and focus on racial bias.
I agree that the police being prejudice is bad for minorities.
Congratulations, Captain Obvious. You've managed to convey that increased contact with police, results in increased risk of violent interactions, yet AGAIN. You must forgive me, though, for not being dazzled by your ability to state what's clearly understood by anyone from the age of 8 and up.
You've also managed to unlock another un-mystery in determining that racial bias isn't the sole cause of exchanges between blacks and law enforcement.
Excellent work, paulpablo; I'll bet you know exactly what happens to the little light in the refrigerator, once the door's closed.
Keep up the good work, friend. You're well on your way to making the connection, in eventually recognizing that police-instigated CONTACT as a result of profiling is in fact, a significant source of the INCREASED CONTACT. Perhaps then, you'll finally be able see why essentially discounting racial profiling, and offering "increased contact" as an alternate explanation for why blacks are more likely to be brutalized by police is just so fucking stupid.
At your current rate, I'd give it about 30 years or so.
If someone else says to me that 2 plus 2 doesn't equal four, are you going to reply with this level of emotion and rage and call me captain obvious again if I say that actually 2 plus 2 does equal 4?
Everyone is nodding along and agreeing and patting each other on the back for noticing that the police have some racial prejudice against black people.
I'm saying also take into account the high level of black cop killers, the high levels of violent crime among black people in comparison to asians who are underrepresented in police killings. Doing this at the risk of being called a racist bigot which doesn't bother me much because most people on here possibly think that about me anyway.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
