The funny thing is, if you look back over the last fifty years, the Democratic presidents, while sometimes deeply flawed, were thoughtful, intelligent people -- but over the same span, the Republican presidents seem to chart a descending course: Reagan and Bush, each perhaps possessed of character but not terribly insightful; W, self-driven by his faith into dumb policies, and now Trump, so far up his own ass he doesn't understand that the outer world moves to its own beat.
The disconnect between America and the world always grows deeper when a Republican is in power, but not (even to a sorta-isolationist like myself) in a good way. It's one thing to let other countries handle their own problems, and it's another to be beholden to a policy of interference even as you claim to be for "America First".
Obama's probably the smartest president we've had since Eisenhower -- mistakes and all. But the double whammy of being a black Democrat means that for a good half of this country, the news-cycle sapped his ability to get shit done.
The fact that the current dipshit cares more about Twitter than the real world speaks volumes not only about himself, but about this country. Stupid gets what stupid deserves. Just a goddamned shame those assholes painted is with their own tarbaby.
