The stats are already linked in a thread on these boards specifically about that subject, and would be available had you ever chosen to google them. You;d be surprised at how few..or how differently, the "righteous warriors of jesus" are expressed in the rank and file. I never had trouble as an atheist in the service....my unit had more than a couple pagans, and a surprising number of muslims......but, we were combat arms. The dregs of the military. The upper social and cultural strata generally angle for better jobs, lol.
There's a culture, in the service..of mooting all of that shit in favor of competency. We sing about the red right hand of our ranger god, not jesus. Though, I suppose that jesus is the ranger god to jesus joes, allah to muslim militants, and....cold steel and death itself...to guys like me. You really....really, cant trust what interested civilians and politicians frame as military culture or what would "bother soldiers and hurt their military readiness". It's nothing like what people have been told or would expect. It;s a lowest common denominator thing, a race to the bottom, any idiot or cripple can do this - what's wrong with you, a "your differences are meaningless and stuff it or be punished" ethos. They take people with ideologies and turn them into cogs who kill.
Wearing a floral dress or battle dress, one infantryman is as lethal as any other.
Are we really expected to believe that..somehow, the fear of there being a transsexual...somewhere...in their unit, would keep a critical joe awake at night and hurt his combat effectiveness?
