Quote:Brian Ellison, a Libertarian Party candidate for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, doesn’t think much of this week’s high school walkout campaign to protest gun violence.
He does, however, back a plan to get more guns into the hands of homeless people.
Indeed, the power of any force for social change comes from the fact that while the established has the means to protect their previleging and exploit others, they also have a lot to lose. The exploited really has little to lose and they must be prevented from rallying through the trickery of god, country and the duplicitous notional and unproductive “freedom”. Once the smoke screens of god, country, and freedom has been penetrated, it is those with nothing to lose that are truly to be feared, not those with many means but much to protect.
One of the reasons why Islamist suicide bombers are so terrifying to the West is the subconscious recognition that many under Islam has nothing to lose and know it.
When the right wing scream socialism at any perceived challenge to the untremmeled privilege conferred by wealth, they neglect to understand the power of all the left leaning social upheavals in modern history, however they turned out, were never in the more radical concepts of their ideological leaders. The powers were always from the smaller legitimate grievances of the followers that were not addressed at the right times.
Those with privilege, by fighting tooth and nail to retain every last part of it, are responsible in the end for losing most or all of it in the upheaval.
