What is it with certain theists around here and their focus on arguing that we care about things more than we actually do? Why do they care so much about how much we care about things?

I've been there as well.  While I was there I didn't think to question the truth of that statement (the world is worse than its ever been.). It was just something that everyone knew intuitively.

The world has to get progressively worse for eschatological purposes. Cutting extreme poverty by about 70% over the last 30 years notwithstanding, apparently.

 It's just mind blowing how a bunch of self proclaimed geniuses can't even respond to my post as it was presented as an answer to the OP's title. I guess I do have an idea though. sin scares the hebegeebes out of each of you, as it should because one day you will have to give an account for every sin you are denying and you will not be let off the hook for ignorance because you claim to be so well educated, so smart.

Because if you would, you're an unreliable source, and a neutral observer should be very skeptical regarding your following claim about us. As the objects of your attempt at mind-reading, of course we know you're full of shit about that.

Another theist who just arrived on the internet yesterday and believes all conversations are dead serious and no one would argue a point they didn't deeply care about just because they think they're right. Invidiousness is something online Christians have taught me to expect from them.
