I never ceased to be amazed at the extreme, aggressive emotions and what I see as the paranoia of gun lovers.
I think it was Gae who said recently something like "never ascribe to malice what can be explained by stupidity and incompetence" That's my attitude towards politicians as a species. This attitude is based on 25 years as a party member and unionist . I also watch parliament from time-to-time; it is televised live here
I'm not paranoid about my government. Nor am I aware that the extreme attitude of some Americans to firearms is shared by any other democratic country.
In my opinion the extreme gun lover's attitude is an excellent example of Yonadav's "toxic cognition". That includes the claim that an urban citizen in a democratic country with rule of law has need for a firearm
The preceding is simply my opinion . I have no interest in an ongoing debate, I have no investment in trying to change anyone's mind..
None of my business what Americans do in their own country, and to be honest, I don't really care.
I think I'll continue to agree to differ.
