It does, though...I'm not sure what about this you think is hypothetical. CPS has been ramping up how many check in it does even though the number of kids deemed victims of abuse or neglect is going down. If they deem your house unsafe or you abusive..they won't leave the kids in your custody. If they see neglect or an unsafe condition that they don't feel they can act on, they're gonna make a report and referral about it..you'll be seeing them again.
The US is not the wild west. Even the wild west wasn't the wild west (they had stricter gun laws, lol). Any discussion of our gun laws and how to improve our gun laws has to begin at that point, rooted in reality.
