I agree that people have a choice, and was specifically pointing out that it isn't power or money, of itself, that corrupts. I also specifically pointed out that whatever tool we use, be it power or money, is a tool that amplifies. It amplifies poor character and bad choices based on the intensity of it's societal impact. I'm not for sure what you're specifically disagreeing with. Are you denying that systemic misuse of power and wealth could contribute to societal acceptance of corruption and poor characters? I was merely positing that, in our predominantly 2 party system, systemic abuse has left us bereft of a viable solution or pool of uncorrupt contenders. I don't mean to say that anyone could choose the right path 100% of the time, but I think what we have a is a limbo situation with regards to political ethics in America. How low can you go?
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
