So, it doesn't need to be an 'either/or' situation. It's perfectly possible to help tenants while making sure landlords don't go under.

So who is going to pay?
If you say "the government" you will be awarded 1000 Stupidity Points. The government generates no income whatsoever. It only transfers money that it takes in from the citizens who generate wealth.
Then the citizens who generate wealth will pay for it (those same citizens who sent you that stimulus check).
In the long run, protecting tenants and landlords will do more good than harm, as I’ve already explained.
