In 2018, Canada had 249 firearm homicides - not suicides, not accidental shootings, but homicides. The US had 19 000. Adjusted for the difference in population, the US had six times the gun homicide rate of Canada.

You have a problem you don’t seem to want to even attempt to address.

Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and every country in the EU has firearm licensing and registration. All have a lower firearm homicide rate than the US.

So, before you declare it ‘to be highly unlikely to work’, you might want to look a little farther afield than Canada.
