Razz

You think you can back that up? Because 36,096 people died of vehicle crashes in 2019. And while I haven’t been able to find the stats for deaths related to burglary in 2019, all evidence I’ve been able to find tells me the number of yearly deaths from that scenario are in the low triple digits.

Than oil on wet pavement sneaking into your bedroom and stabbing you to death.......

I guess I should have added [/sarcasm] for the humor impaired.

My appologies...

We register cars. We register appliances to take advantage of a warranty. We register trademarks and logos to protect business interests.

Why not register guns?

Ask the neighbors. ( to our north).

Didn' t work.

The long gun registration enacted by the libs in 1995 was a total failure.  Cost went far beyond predictions. Compliance with the law almost non- existant.

These are CANADIANS we are talking about....

You think Americans are going to go along with it?

Hilarious

In 2018, Canada had 249 firearm homicides - not suicides, not accidental shootings, but homicides. The US had 19 000. Adjusted for the difference in population, the US had six times the gun homicide rate of Canada.

You have a problem you don’t seem to want to even attempt to address.

So using a tactic already shown to be highly unlikely to work is your solution.....

Perhaps we should pray about it too....

Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and every country in the EU has firearm licensing and registration. All have a lower firearm homicide rate than the US.

So, before you declare it ‘to be highly unlikely to work’, you might want to look a little farther afield than Canada.

Oh - it would work - if every American rolled over when the government asked....

Think that real likely? (Look north for helpful hints)

If so - you haven' t met many Americans....

It’s very true that I haven’t met a lot of Americans. As far as you being an unruly lot, that’s why we’re having this conversation. 198 mass shootings just this year.

Only one purpose?

So my Erma Werks .22 is as suitable for bear hunting as my .480 Ruger SRH?

Or

My Smith model 15 .38 Special is unsuitable for target shooting but is suitable for a beat cop to carry?

I think pistols can be used for whatever purpose the user decides to put it to.......

Yes, only one purpose. My opinion is as valid as yours, maybe more so.

Long Gun registration only failed because the Harper Government stripped the law of its teeth and provincial Conservative governments refused to enforce it. Any law fails when there is a significant faction within the government trying to undermine it.

I have no problem with that. But say in the suburbs and urban settings housing, like town houses, are plentiful and buildings can be very close to each other, and in that setting firing in your back yard, or even in your own house, if you miss, that bullet could end up going through a window or drywall and hurt someone on the other side. So it isn't always wise to have them in every setting.

Most state houses and court houses in America ban firearms outside of security. I can remember as a kid there were no screenings at the airport and if you wanted to wait for a arriving loved one at the gate, you could. But I am glad today everyone including airport staff and ground crew and shop workers are all screened just like passengers and they cannot keep firearms inside the checkpoint. Nursing homes are another one where firearms are banned. They don't want someone to off themselves and get sued by the family members.

I have no problem with what you are arguing, but our far right here in America want no rules whatsoever.

I'm not part of the far right. I am part of what most would consider the 'wilderness'. Guns are often a necessary tool.

Did you forget that I used the word 'proficiency'? That would include not pulling the trigger when an untended target is a consideration.
