Ultimately, alot of this stuff is illegal already - but with no means to enforce the law, no money to enforce the law, and no will to enforce the law...fanciful notions about control are just that. Fantasy.
Let’s say you travel from Indiana to Maine with Colt Dragoon you inherited from great-grandpappy, a gun not bought from a licensed dealer. You get pulled over for a broken rear light or something. The cop finds the gun and a quick check shows that you’re not a resident of Maine.
Unless you can prove you bought the gun in Maine, off to the pokey you go.
