Plus, most of those charges, if not, all, are felony charges. Some here do not believe Trump might go to jail, but felony charges do carry a jail sentence. So if he is convicted on these felony charges, chances are, he is going to jail.
Prosecutors tend to file charges that have the best chance of getting a conviction. I agree with you completely that Trump’s behaviour on 6 January was both insurrectionist and seditious. But those are very high bars for a prosecutor to overcome. Trump has a much better chance of being convicted for conspiracy than those two.
This is known as the ‘fight the fights you can win’ strategy.
