Actually, history DOES furnish an example of "Jewish" rule over what was essentially the Davidic Empire. Unfortunately for the bible-thumpers it was c 102 BC under the Hasmonean Dynasty.

Once you dismiss the idea that this shit was written by bronze age goat fuckers and instead bring it well down into the Hellenistic era the political situation it describes starts to fall into place.
