I have so many of my ahole Christian friends push for school prayer, Bible classes, Bible verses and other crap all over the school, and all sorts of crap. They try to tell me that there is no separation of church and state in the U.S. That this is a Christian nation (translation: theocracy). All sorts of bullshit like this. And just a few minutes ago one of the worst of the worst goes and posts this: http://link.brightcove.com/services/play...1237687001Contact American atheists and Freedom From Religion Foundation You probably can remain anonomous, but at least give them the name of the school and detailed discriptions of dates and events where these things are happening.
He was complaining about Islamic infiltration in the school system. f**ing hypocrite!I can't tell you how many times I have said that if the Muslims were doing the same thing or Islam were the dominate religion his attitude would be different
Ugh! This is not working....must...go...vent...elswhere.
You are being bullied. Now I cant ask you to risk your own safety so do what you feel you are comfortable with. The bottom line is they ARE HYPOCRITES, because when others try to do the same thing they don't wnat the competition. They have no choice, they either let it all in at the same level of venue, or they agree to keep the setting neutral.
You have Jefferson's quotes on your side. You have the Barbary treaty artical 11 on your side. You have the Virginia Religious Freedom act that Madison used as the prototype for the First Amendment. And "No Religious Test" in the oath of office of the United States Constitution.
Your problem is unfortunatly that our country for far too long has had school districts under revisionist assholes control.
Whatever you decide to do be safe and only do what you are comfortable with.
Positive Atheism.com can give you the quotes of Jefferson, mind you though he was a diest, not an atheist, but he did value the right to quesiton even religion and in a few of his letters he basically says if you don't believe, it is better to question and you can have morals as an atheist.
Avalon Project is Yale University's online law library, look up the "Barbary Treati"
Article 11 "As the goverment of the United States of America, is not in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" Singed by both houses of congress WITHOUT dissent into law by Presdient John Adams June 10th 1797.
The founders wanted freedom of religion, but not pecking orders, when your fellow Christian students pull that crap they are attempting to set up a pecking order when they want to deny others the same rights. The only choice they have is to let others do it too, or agree to keep the event neutral.
