They have managed to keep their very precious museum going, got pieces back that foreigners had stolen taken and Egypt as a whole is was thriving, in spite of having islam as the majority religion.
A lot of the younger generations speak a second language, typically, English and surf the web... like me or anyone in Europe (except in the UK).
I'd say that they're ready for it... and this is the perfect opportunity to implement a religion free constitution and religion free government, with safeguards to prevent religion to seep into it... unlike what's happening in the US, where I hear some people are putting a lot of effort to get public schools to teach about creationism.
