Well if we're sending ourselves to hell, then why can't God do anything to stop it? I mean, being omnipotent and all, he could abolish hell from existence and allow us all to join him in Heaven, or else just have our existence snuffed out forever upon death. If he won't stop the eternal torment, then he's a monster.
It's even worse when, according to Christian doctrine, God is the one who created hell and set up the system rigged to send anyone there unless they follow one of many very strict set of rules, and doesn't even tell us which one is the right list.
