In response to your question futile about my devotion to Mary

A) I'm not comfortable with Jesus

B) I've got mommy issues with my Biological Mother and need maternal nurturing and bonding

Hmm. I wonder then why someone I used to be very close to did not connect at all with the idea of the Virgin Mary, because both the things you just said about you would also be true about him, and he spent some time in prison and apparently religion is a big fucking deal in prison because at religious services the food is better, and he has learned all kinds of things about a lot of different religions.

Instead, he developed a fascination with Judaism, I guess because he was young when he entered prison, but he didn't make any trouble there, and the Jews there took him under their wing and taught him lots of things.

But if those things are true, does it also have to do with your previous experience with Catholicism and some kind of residual loyalty to it? Because you know, there are lots of pagan goddesses who are very nurturing and loving, too, and paganism, to my knowledge, does not entail the repression and shame that Catholicism does. What I'm saying is that I think that if you must feel some religious devotion to something, it would be better for you if it were a pagan mother goddess. I hope you think on it.
