EvF,
Once I thought about your question like that I flashed on my reading of the Tibetan Book of the Dead which explains in vivid detail the exact experiences that will happen to you after you die. It details how long each section (Chikhai, Chonyid, and Sidpai Bardo) will be after you die, what beings you could meet, and eventually the different colors of smoke that you will see. Depending on the life you led and which habits are formed you will be attracted to certain colors of smoke and they will determine what level of being you will be born into. The goal of Buddhism is to avoid being attracted or repeled by anything and thus you can leave the wheel of rebirth. All noodly bullshit that springs forth from the same font of wishful thinking that begat many of the other noodly concepts our culture tolerates to a ridiculous degree. It was a interesting read though.
