One of my biggest mistakes was letting my ex attempt to indoctrinate our children in Christian chuckle-fuckery. Fortunately, it backfired as only one out of five have "accepted the Lord".

Since many religious types, Christian as well, seem to be some of the most judgmental, intolerant pricks on the planet, perhaps the fault of any broken relationships lies more with the purveyor of superstitious bullshit as a worldview, rather than the rejector of said bullshit.
