That's what I would like to know. I was present when the judge issued her ruling. I was utterly dumbfounded because I couldn't make sense of the reasoning. Ultimately she issued something called a partial Protection From Abuse, in where the mother was not allowed to use corporal punishment on the children.
The first thought in my mind when I heard that was, okay, so if she decides to beat the kids, she's still going to get away with it because she'll just do what she did in the earlier part of last year, which was to threaten the kids not to tell. It's obvious something is going on over there now. The behaviors are back and they aren't saying a word. My heart hurts.
