She said the judge said, "Stoning is a punishment set by god".

And people can't see why religion is so dangerous and stupid! I'll never understand that way of thinking.

Yeah I agree.. totally backward and barbaric.

I feel so sorry for Iranians and Iraqis. These countries are not Arab countries. They weren't Moslems until Islam came to their lands. Iranians used to be Zoroastrians... Islam really has ruined their culture and their pride as a nation. Before the Islamic revolution, Iraqis and Iranians live like western people, they dress 'normally', girlfriends meet boyfriends in public, etc etc. Came Islam and Mullahs... Iran turned into the dark age.

So many Iranians despise and hate the bigoted and totalitarian Mullahs to death. A taxi driver who were asked about what they think about their Mullahs, he replies by moving his finger across the throat, indicating he wants the Mullahs dead.

Islamic Revolution in 1979 was really bad news for Iran and for the rest of the world... slowly and surely islam fundamentalism spread all over the world. It came through universities and schools in Indonesia.

I just hope that Indonesia won't be turned into something like Iran or Saudi Arabia. I'm really disgusted that some provinces already applied shariah law into their legislation. I am sure just like Iranians, most of my people do not like sharia law.

Thanks for the link, KichigaiNeko. Love the cartoon at the front page.

I read several books about Iran and Iraq, and I came to appreciate how down to earth and normal a lot of their people are. I just finished reading Reza Kahlili's "A Time to Betray" and Jamie Maslin's "Iranian Rappers and Persian Porn". Really a good read.

This is becoming as easy as finding articles about pedophile priests.

From what I gather on this page...Iranians are so anti Arab/ islam. How that will translate in the future is moot. For the sake of a free Persia I hope that they eject the Arabic/ islam/ mullah bullshit and take the world stage as they are. A rather inventive peoples who love science and loathe religious dogma.

So when will Indonesia shake off the shackles of Arabian dogma??

I have no idea. It could be a long time or never. It needs a revolution. A lot of Indonesians are gullible people. They're so easily persuaded and brainwashed. It is almost like a culture for us... easily being intimidated by others (i.e. Dutch and Japanese imperialists in the old days). We were so afraid of powerful beings.. we used to worship big trees, big stones, e.t.c. We, most Indonesians, would believe anything that promise to save us from hell, calamity, disasters and poverty. The stronger you persuade Indonesians to believe into things, the greater the chance for you to brainwash them. The poisonous and thuggish Arabian dogma has gone to the top, to the the government and the police.

My Salafy ex-classmates told me that during the Ambon holy war preparation meetings, there were policemen coming in plain clothes trying to infiltrate the meetings and to arrest people and stop the movement. Shockingly, the policemen got 'hypnotised' and believed what the preachers said about the importance of holy war. The Police men joined the jihad and went to the holy war with these Salafists.

The police can not (is not willing to) stop Sunnis killing Shiites, Sunnis burning Shiites' houses and mosques and schools. It is like Middle East all over again. It also reminds me of bitter memories when my Salafy classmates told me they would harm our Shiites classmates.

We also have a lot of intellectuals at the top that would speak against the fundamentalists, so at least we still have people who would counterbalance things. Certainly the arresting and executing of Bali bombers is a good step forward, but reducing imprisonment time of Abu Bakar Bashir is 1000 steps backward.
