wow, you are really angry for misinformed ideas. you really think Christians held back science? this is a very commonly misinformed idea. you're right that the Romans did burn a lot of libraries but it's something called war. in war, a lot of historical doccuments were destroyed, not just by christians. many people may think that the christians were responsible for the dark ages. the church did not discourage science of any sort at the time. they required every student to study math and science in universities at the time. and also, the universities did not answer to the church and the church had no influence on it. and yes, there was a decline in sciences. but it was not because of christianity or christianity would have made it happen a lot sooner. the reasons were:
1. the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
2. the extended pandemics of the Plague, which broke out regularly over Europe for a period of a hundred years during the sixth century.

the only example of christians ridiculing any scientific theory was the copernicus theory (which i agree was wrong of them). and this didn't really affect science other than the fact that for a little while longer people thought the earth was the center of the universe (and i know the sun isn't either).

So you see Min. Christians arent attacking biology class or evolution because Christians do not attack science. Neither are they attacking sexual education as well.

And Christians used the bible to teach that the Earth was round, and orbited around the sun....

Christians arent holding back stem cell and genetic research...its really the atheists doing that..and the pagans.

Christians arent blocking methods to combat global warming and stopping our world from being polluted...

....where have you been Min? Christianity is da bomb! Come on Min. everyone is an atheist. be a Rebel and accept Christ into your life.

you're dodging the subject by trying to change it. christians did not hold back science. since i asked you a question before and you did not answer it i assume you don't have an answer to it.

Was Christianity trying to help science when they tried to get I D into schools by fabricating so called evidence, miss-representing evidence and lying in court?

Of course they were. They werent lying. People who believe in jesus do not lie because it is one of the 10 comandments. Atheists lie because they dont have 10 comandments.

Didnt you know that the bible is a history, science, and life guide all rolled into one?

Nice and slow now Chip... Always. See where you put that word in your statement? Which means, one time - and you are a liar.

And you are a liar. Galileo? Kepler? How about the complete and total repression of artistic expression for fifteen hundred fucking years because some prudes made it a crime to accurately represent reality in art? WTF art? Where the fuck you think we might be today, if we came up with fractal geometry in the second century? Speaking of geometry - witchcraft. You burn for that. Speculation on the nature infinity? Burn. Georg Cantor, guy in my avatar? Lost fucking everything - everything - because of the fucking church.

Christianity has almost never helped science. The Catholic church at least was more preoccupied with inquisition and prosecuting brilliant minds for thinking outside the status quo. That is, when they found time between conning peasants out of money and spending it.

I think you have missed the point that no one gives a flying fuck what you agree with or not.

i already mentioned the theories of copernicus being rejected by the church.

what years were those? pretty sure art didn't stop for 1500 years. there was more and better art during the renaissance.

never heard of those. i'll look those up.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Hey, Chippy

Why don't you find out what Thomas Paine really thought of religion?

(BTW, you have a misspelling in your quote...I would say it is accidental but I think you are too much of a phony for that. )

Quote:What is it the New Testament teaches us? To believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married; and the belief of this debauchery is called faith.
-- Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason

The Bible: a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalise mankind.
-- Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason

The Christian system of religion is an outrage on common sense.
-- Thomas Paine
