How many miracles needed in the Noah myth?
#21
RE: How many miracles needed in the Noah myth?
There is one miracle which is made up of many sub miracles, many of which are individually quite impressive my modern standards.

There is also one smiting event which is made up of many many sub smitings.

SOME fish can survive in brackish waters. A great many more cannot.

Somehow you managed to gloss over all of the other objections to your myth, and present us with this half-assed excuse for an apology. Fail.

Let's make this perfectly clear - nobody, not before the alleged story of Noah, or since, has made an all-wooden boat of that size that was sea-worthy.

What happened to Noah's alleged advanced ark-building technology? Hmmm?

No one left to share it with, sons are rarely interested in following dad into ship building. It also seems Noah was more interested in grapes.

As far as fish are concerned you're right, but then I was not talking about all fish. We know for sure that the whales tolerate fresh water and brackish water is no problem for them. Models of the ark have shown it to be more than sea worthy, you nor anyone can say the ark was not sea worthy because of a few measurements given. Just the placement of a load can make a ship more sea worthy in storms.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Models of the Ark no doubt are seaworthy, because they're small and they're made of wood. Therefore they float. But according to F=MA, the greater a mass, the greater the force on an object. You can use the formula, or simple logic to come to that conclusion. The point is that the bigger something is, the easier it breaks. So unless there have been 1:1 scale models of the Ark built which have been successfully tested to survive in open seas for eighty days, I wouldn't put too much stock in models.
I think someone needs to tell Godschild that some aquatic life being able to survive in brackish waters does not mean that the great barrier reef can survive in similar conditions.

Also, the wind blows because warmer, less dense (lighter) air (in which molecules have more energy, move faster, and spread out more) rises, and cooler, denser (heavier) air (less energy, thus less particle movement and closer clumping) falls, creating suction and by extension wind.

I've even heard it claimed that perhaps God shrunk the animals and put them into a deep sleep in order to allow them all to fit aboard the ark and survive for so long without needing to eat. Of course that still doesn't explain all the other problems with the entire story.

Not to mention it doesn't mention animals sleeping deeply or decreasing in size in the bible. Hell, if they want to start making things up at random, what's to stop anyone from making things up? I'll go first.

God actually made a volcano out of water, but some of the water was still lava even though it was water. Don't argue with me, just listen and don't be ignorant. Tongue
So the not-lava mixing with the water created a zone of perfect temperature for every species, and both fish and animals could breath there because god said so. And then Chuck Norris punched the moon, just because. But the man on the moon got really pissed off, and told god to kill Chuck Norris.
Then, god said, "Well, I can't kill Chuck Norris, he'd punch me to death, because my sacred cabbage is in the blue toilet." So god turned Chuck Norris in to Jesus, and Jesus sucked all of the water from the Earth in to his vagina, and the flood ended.
What falls away is always, and is near.

The schooner and the ark are two totally different ships, the ark was built to float, not to be under power. There's an ark built to the measurements in scripture, guess what it floats and has been towed by a tug and is still floating.

http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&...N5jCqtVRrw

The one built by a Dutch cretinist THAT SITS ON 25 STEEL BARGES AND HAS A HUGE FUCKEN STEEL BEAM RUNNING DOWN THE MIDDLE TO HOLD IT ALL TOGETHER!!!!

That one?

Yes, I'm sure that is an exact replica of the supposed original.

Word of advice GC, be careful of what you offer up as proof.

Noah's Ark apologists are the most special kind of stupid.

It's just sad, really. I think they wish it were a true story, which is pretty repulsive in it's own right. You want your god to have drowned innocent children, babies, and adults.. just because there was a whole lot of sinning by a number of people? Not to mention all the innocent animals other than humans who perished too. You want that to be true? Sick motherfuckers.

Then their infallible god sent a fucking rainbow to make up for it. What the fuck is that?? "I'm sorry I killed everyone, here's something pretty that you can't see because you're dead, but it's a promise that I'll never kill everyone at the same time, via global flood, ever again."

So, basically god was admitting he was wrong.

Wait...

What?!?!

Stupid fucking assholes will twist nonsense any way they have to twist it to make their fairy tales seem plausible. Makes me fucking sick.

I disagree. It's a very common kind of stupid shared by all fundamentalists, and a few of the clinically dead.

RE: How many miracles needed in the Noah myth?
Right. Let me clarify what I meant by "special kind of stupid".

Stupid people believe the myth as truth, because they're stupid. Apologists for Noah's Ark are a special kind of stupid because not only do they believe the myth as truth, but when they start talking to you about why it must be true, or why it could be true, it's like they expect rational, sane people to smack themselves on the foreheads and say, "OH! God works in mysterious ways... so, it MUST be true.. how stupid of me to believe otherwise!"

They're stupid enough to think that everyone will believe their stupid shit. That's a special kind of fucking stupid right there!!!
