LOL, the religious have a long history of "borrowing" things which seemed like a fantastic idea at the time, that later ended up not holding much water. If theyhad never claimed it was the unchanging word of a just god this wouldn't have been a problem.

(as if you actually think that...) well if you are asking why anyone should prefer Christianity there are some good reasons. The old testemant contains the highest hygiene standard that existed at that time. These "nomadic goat herders" obviously didn't know anything about bacteria but they had the best guidelines to stay healthy and prevent disease. Christianity is by far the most misunderstood religion but that's why you have to look into it a great deal to understand it. If you aren't willing to do that then it may not be something you are willing to accept. If you get all your information from evilbible.com then you will not understand it.

Most Christians don't says people should be stoned to death for adultery or homosexuality, say Hindus and Buddhists should all be murdered and their temples burnt down if they won't worship the Judeo Christian god. So how can they not think the whole Bible is not just a work of fiction if they're rejecting half of it as fiction or morally wrong anyway?
ACTUALLY I don't know anyone who thinks other races/religions should get killed (and those who do are just messed up people). You're right we don't think slavery is okay - why would it be? Also, I view many of the bible stories to be metaphors. Other religions have stories of fiction to teach lessons, and I think a lot of the bible is the same way :)

I do, the god written about in the OT. Same with slavery. Perhaps he's just a "metaphorical god"...lol. I don't find the metaphorical lessons of your metaphorical god worthwhile in the least, not even as metaphor. I didn't have to be told that evil creatures with absolute power would be capable of terrible things, which is all I see when I look at the text. I've known that since I was about 2 feet tall, that's what I used to call "boogeymen".
