Would it be a good thing if no Christian was allowed any position in government?

I don't see why not.

Absolutely not. To keep certain groups from running for an elected office is out right discrimination.Angry This country was built on a very fundamental proposition that all men/women are created equal, that should leave out the idea of one groups opinion of another groups abilities. What you propose is as bad as whites not wanting anyone but whites running the country, because only whites have the mental capacity to do so. Get real!

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Actually, G-C that bit of propaganda was written into the Declaration of Independence. When they got around to writing the constitution ( you know - the law ) they kept slavery and made sure that only "men" were equal...some men, anyway.

Yes Min, as I said a proposition not a law, and that proposition was worded to fit into any generation. Also Min you have pointed out many times this country was not founded on Christianity, so the slavery deal, it must belong to the nonbelievers, just reasoning here.

That is untrue.

The Declaration of Independence states:
Quote: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,

By 'men' they meant 'white males',it excluded slaves and women and several other groups were specifically excluded. (not eqaul)

Slavery existed until after the civil war. Federal suffrage for women did not exist in the US until 1920,with passage of the nineteenth amendment.

Quote:In several states in the U.S. after the Declaration of Independence, Jews, Quakers or Catholics were denied voting rights and/or forbidden to run for office.[5] The Delaware Constitution of 1776 stated that "Every person who shall be chosen a member of either house, or appointed to any office or place of trust, before taking his seat, or entering upon the execution of his office, shall (…) also make and subscribe the following declaration, to wit: I, A B. do profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for evermore; and I do acknowledge the holy scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by divine inspiration.".[6] This was repealed by article I, section 2 of the 1792 Constitution: "No religious test shall be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, under this State.".[7] The 1778 Constitution of the State of South Carolina stated that "No person shall be eligible to sit in the house of representatives unless he be of the Protestant religion",[8] the 1777 Constitution of the State of Georgia (art. VI) that "The representatives shall be chosen out of the residents in each county (…) and they shall be of the Protestent (sic) religion".[9] In Maryland, voting rights and eligibility were extended to Jews in 1828.[10]

Its my opinion that no religious person should be allowed to have any job of societal importance, like teacher, doctor, nurse, judge, police etc.

In a rational and thinking society, this would automatically disqualify them because everyone would rightly think they're a nutjob. In the Republican party, making this claim is apparently a requirement.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Good thing. Can you imagine how fucked up we'd be if you shitheads really were responsible for setting it up.

We'd have a king AND slavery. Two things which xtians never seem to have had a problem with.
